Salvation

"What must I do to be saved?"

A question that has been asked for 2,000 years.  The answer is simple and has never changed.  The answer is in a name.  The name of Jesus.  Peter said it this way when talking about a crippled man who had been healed...

Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. 11 For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, 'The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.' 12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved."  (Acts 4:10-12)

Like this crippled man Peter mentions, you too can be healed.  But rather than some kind of physically healing, this healing is far more valuable and important.  It is a healing in your heart.  The emptiness that we try to fill with so many things yet never quite gets filled, is finally filled when we say, "Yes" to Jesus.  And when we come to Jesus, He comes into our hearts to permanently heal it.  When Jesus comes into your heart He gives us new life.  This new life we call – Salvation.

So what must we all do to have our hearts filled with Jesus...to be saved?

Admit you have sinned.
"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." (Romans 3:23)
"For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23a)

Believe Jesus died on the cross and raised from the dead for your sins.
"Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." (Romans 3:24)
"...but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23b)

Confess and follow Jesus as the Lord of your life.
"But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness." (1 John 1:9)
"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
