Bible Engagement

Bible Engagement has a track record as long as Christianity has existed.

Bible Engagement has a dramatic effect on how we live our lives.  A recent George Barna study showed those who had a higher engagement with the Bible had a higher reflection of the fruit of the Spirit, a higher priority on “living their faith” in public, and even a higher satisfaction in life, across the board (Family, friends, work, church and balance)

Bible Engagement is not listening to a sermon on Sunday morning.  If Sunday morning is enough for you, then what are you feeding your soul the rest of the week?  So at NL we provide the opportunity for you to have daily Bible Engagement by providing 3 different Bible Reading plans you can choose from.
  • Read the Bible in a year
  • A book at a time (OT book then NT book along with Psalms and Proverbs)
  • 5-5-5 (5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, 5 different ways)
These three plans are also available on the YouVersion app.  Just search for Discipleship Journal in the PLANS section of YouVersion.

An additional resource for Bible Engagement - SOAP

This not merely reading the Bible.  This is engaging the Bible.  Our SOAP plan helps you with that.
Study
Study is where you read the chapters and verses of the Bible we are going through as a church, life group or in your own personal study.
Observation
Observation is where you write down what you see in those chapters and verses you read in the Bible.  Feel free to share what you write down from what you see with your spouse, friends, life group or others.
Application
Application is where you write down what you learned from what you saw in your reading the chapters and verses of the Bible.  Feel free to share these with others too.
Prayer
Prayer is where you thank Jesus for what you read, saw, and learned in the chapters and verses of the Bible.  Use this journal to write those prayers down.
